Children are natural tinkerers and have a unique approach to solving problems. Atal Dhaḍapaḍālaya have been conceptualized towards this very direction – to imbibe futuristic skill sets among youngsters by providing them with access to multiple technologies and enabling them to build new solutions to solve challenges they see in their communities.
With a vision to ‘Cultivate neoteric innovators among school students’, Atal Tinkering Laboratories or Atal Dhaḍapaḍālaya (house for tinkering) was setup at Jnana Prabodhini Navanagar Vidyalaya in 2017. The objective of this scheme is to foster curiosity, creativity, and imagination in young minds; and inculcate skills such as design mindset, computational thinking, adaptive learning, physical computing etc.
The lab contains educational and learning ‘do it yourself’ kits and equipment on – science, electronics, robotics, open-source micro-controller boards, sensors, a 3D printer, pneumatic trainer kit and computers. We have developed a training program for enhancing creativity in students, aiming for creativity development and fostering innovative thinking at school level. we encourage students to use these skills to solve problems of the society and be the future problem solvers…. And many have stood up to take the challenge !
The mechanics lab introduces students to the world of Robotics, and 3D modeling and printing. Students are encouraged to define their own problems and propose a solution with the skills learned.
The Carpentry workshops aims for development of motor skills of students. Students are introduced to various tools in the workshop and make various useful objects and toys from wood and bamboo.
The students learn computational Thinking and physical computing with various microcontrollers and sensors.Students are also introduced to Internet of Things and Microprocessor programming.
Our tinkering lab is open for students from other schools also. There are many activities and workshops organized at our Tinkering Lab. We would like to welcome you in our tinkering lab.
